The skirting boards and architraves are continuing to be installed in preparation for painting, which I think will happen next week. It was hard to see much progress until the kitchen mantel section was installed on Friday (it will be painted when the walls are painted).
I also went out to the cabinet maker’s factory to select the pattern for finishing the edges of the kitchen bench.
After that I went to the visit the stone cutter’s factory to select the piece of marble for the back bench in the kitchen. It was originally supposed to be carrera marble, but there was a piece of left over stone big enough for our job that the cabinet maker wanted me to look at. I’m not sure of the name – something like dynamite, dynamo. Its more expensive than the marble, but as it is a left over piece we are getting it for the same price. Apparently this piece is left over from the new wine bar installed at Domain Chandon!
Update 07/08/2014: the marble is called dolomite.
